The Equity Framework includes four widgets that can be used in any child theme.

Equity – Custom Menu

This widget adds a custom menu that outputs the link title, description, and optional icon.

  1. First create a Custom Menu to be used
  2. Add Descriptions for your menu items
  3. Adding Menu Descriptions for the Custom Menu widget
    On the Appearance > Menus page:

    1. Expand the menu item you want to add the description to by clicking the arrow icon
    2. Add a short description to the Description field
    3. If you do not see the Description field:

      1. Click “Screen Options” in the upper right of the Menus page
      2. Tick the checkbox for Description
    4. Click Save Changes
  4. Add optional Font Awesome icons
  5. Adding Font Awesome icons for the Custom Menu widget
    On the Appearance > Menus page:

    1. Expand the menu item you want to add the icon to by clicking the arrow icon
    2. Add the Font Awesome icon class to the CSS Classes field. Click here for a list of available icons and their CSS Classes.
    3. If you do not see the CSS Classes field:

      1. Click “Screen Options” in the upper right of the Menus page
      2. Tick the checkbox for CSS Classes
    4. Click Save Changes
  6. Now that your menu is created, you can select it in the Equity – Custom Menu widget dropdown.

Equity – Featured Listings Scroller

This widget adds a scrolling display of listings and includes the following options:

Note: This widget requires the WP Listings plugin installed before it can be used.

  • Title – the widget title.
  • Image size – the image size to display. Default to the image size created by WP Listings, but custom image sizes can be used if added to your theme using <a href="http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/add_image_size">add_image_size</a>
  • How many results should be returned? – Sets how many listings are pulled in
  • How many results should be shown in the widget at one time without scrolling? – Sets the number of listings to show
  • Display by term – Select a specific taxonomy term to show (i.e. just active listings)
  • Autoplay? – Choose to auto scroll the listings or let the user scroll.

Equity – Featured Page

This widget lets you display a page from your site including the title, excerpt, and thumbnail. Options include:

  • Title – the widget title
  • Page – the page to display
  • Show Featured Image – Whether to display the featured image.
    • Image size – Choose an image size. Additional custom image sizes can be added to your theme using <a href="http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/add_image_size">add_image_size</a>
    • Image alignment – Aligns the image left, right, center, or none
  • Show Page Title – Check to display the page title
  • Content Type – Displays content from the page with four options: Show Content, Show Excerpt, Show Content Limit, No Content
  • Limit Content – If Show Content Limit is selected, enter the number of characters to show.
  • More text – If there is more content than what is displayed, this is the link to read more.

Equity – Featured Posts

This widget lets you display posts from your site including the title, excerpt, and thumbnail, and more. Options include:

  • Title – the widget title
  • Category – the category of Posts display
    • Includes other options for setting the number of posts to show, offset, and the order.
  • Show Featured Image – Whether to display the featured image.
    • Image size – Choose an image size. Additional custom image sizes can be added to your theme using <a href="http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/add_image_size">add_image_size</a>
    • Image alignment – Aligns the image left, right, center, or none
  • Show Author Gravatar – Whether to display the author’s Gravatar.
    • Gravatar size – Choose one of the available Gravatar sizes.
    • Gravatar alignment – Aligns the image left, right, or no alignment
  • Show Post Title – Check to display the post title
  • Show Post Info – Check to display the post info followed by a field to customize the output using the Post Info shortcodes.
  • Content Type – Displays content from the page with four options: Show Content, Show Excerpt, Show Content Limit, No Content
  • Limit Content – If Show Content Limit is selected, enter the number of characters to show.
  • More text – If there is more content than what is displayed, this is the link to read more.
  • Display an unordered list of posts – Let’s you display a list of posts after the previous settings with more posts, that includes only the post title. Following field allows you to set the number of posts to show in that list.
  • Show Category Archive Link – Check to show a link to the chosen category of posts. Follow field allows you customize that link text.
