Curb Appeal is designed to be used with or without IDX. This guide will cover setting it up with Equity IDX widgets, but can be replaced with alternative widgets. Where applicable we have noted alternatives. If using IDX, make sure you have activated IDX features in the theme.

Home Search

The Home Search widget area uses the Equity – IDX Quick Search widget.
Alternatively, you can use the IMPress Listings search widget.

Equity – IDX Quick Search

1. Visit the Appearance > Widgets page
2. Expand the Home Search widget area
3. Add the Equity – IDX Quick Search widget to the Home Search widget area
4. Give it a title
5. Select a city list and choose horizontal orientation.
6. Click the Save button

Home Top

There are two widgets in the Home Top section: A Text widget with shortcodes for calls to action and the Equity – IDX Property Carousel widget.

Text widget

1. Visit the Appearance > Widgets page
2. Expand the Home Top widget area
3. Add the Text widget to the Home Top widget area
4. Do not give it a title
5. Copy and paste the following shortcodes and content:
6. Customize the text, link, and icons to your needs
7. Click the Save button

Equity – IDX Property Carousel

1. Visit the Appearance > Widgets page
2. Expand the Home Top widget area
3. Add the Equity – IDX Property Carousel widget to the Home Top widget area
4. Give it a title
5. Enter the number of properties to display
6. Click the Save button

Home Middle Left

This widget area provides a space to display a welcome statement.

Text widget

1. Visit the Appearance > Widgets page
2. Expand the Home Middle Left widget area
3. Add the Text widget to the Home Middle Left widget area
4. Give it a title and add a welcome statement
5. Click the Save button

Home Middle Right

This widget area is used to display search links from your IDX account using the Equity – Custom menu widget.

Equity – Custom Menu

1. Create a menu with icons as described on the Menus guide page
2. Visit the Appearance > Widgets page
3. Expand the Home Middle Right widget area
4. Add the Equity – Custom Menu widget to the Home Middle Right widget area
5. Give it a title and select your menu
6. Click the Save button

Home Bottom Map

You will need to create a custom Map Search widget in the IDX Broker Dashboard with your search parameters. * This requires an IDX Broker Platinum account or a Turn Key site.

Alternatively, we’ve included the Soliloquy Slider in the child theme plugins folder to use in place of a map search widget.

1. Log in to your WordPress site.
2. Hover over “Appearance” in the left menu until a sub-menu appears.
3. Click “Widgets” in the sub-menu.
4. On the left you will see your available widgets. On the right you will see your available “Widget Areas”. You can drag and drop widgets into widget areas.
5. Locate the “Home Bottom Map” widget area on the right side of the page.
6. Hover over the widget area title until you see an arrow appear to the right of the text.
7. Click the arrow to expand the widget area.
8. Locate the “Text” widget on the left side of the page.
9. Click on “Text” widget and drag it into the “Home Lead” widget area you expanded earlier.
10. Do not give the “Text” widget a title.
11. Copy and paste the script code from the IDX Broker Dashboard. Important!: This includes the map code and the other required scripts from the map widget page.
12. Click Save

Home Bottom Left

The Home Bottom Left is configured to use a Text widget with the Testimonial and Button shortcodes but you can use any other available widget here.

1. Visit the Appearance > Widgets page
2. Expand the Home Bottom widget area
3. Add the Text widget to the Home Bottom widget area
4. Give it a title
5. Add the testimonial shortcode:

6. Optional: Add a Button shortcode to link to a page with more testimonials:

7. Click the Save button

Home Bottom Right

The Home Bottom Right section is configured for the Equity – Featured Posts but you can use any other available widget here.

Equity – Featured Posts

1. Visit the Appearance > Widgets page
2. Expand the Home Bottom Left widget area
3. Add the Equity – Featured Posts widget to the Home Bottom Right widget area
4. Give it a title
5. Enter 1 for the number of posts to display
6. Select to show the post title, show the featured image (featured post size), and display a content limit of 180 characters.
7. Click the Save button
